Fall Classic Final Game Attracts 51M Viewers In the United States, Canada and Japan Regions.

The exciting extra-inning matchup that saw the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a total over 50 million viewers across the US, Canadian, and Japan territories. Major League Baseball announced this is the highest-rated World Series finale after the 1991 edition contest featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday epic contest secured over 27 million audience members on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also is the top-rated Fall Classic game since the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew 29.07M. This marks a sixteen percent improvement compared to the last finale featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed fourth, Game 4 ranked seventh, Game 5 came in eighth, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth position.

Global Audience Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game averaged 11.6 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English program in the country since the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding contest started at 9 p.m. local time, it drew 12M. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up one run in six innings – drew 13.1 million spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a single network in Japan.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-game series drew 15.71 million audience members on Fox, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has seen audience increases for two consecutive years.

Counting the opening game broadcast on Univision, the complete US average was 16.1M. The overall Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1M in Canada.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded 8.09M watchers, an 8% increase compared to the previous year and Fox’s best playoff performance since 2017.

Major League Baseball stated that the World Series was broadcast in 203 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in 16 different tongues.
